This blog was created to document our upcoming cycling trip to France. Both Linda and I (Paul) are going on the trip, Linda as a non-cyclist and Paul as a cyclist. The cycling trip is hosted by Bikestyle Tours @ www.bikestyletours.com. This is our first overseas cycling trip. We leave for Paris on Sunday July 13, 2014, spend a couple of nights in Paris, and then travel via train to Lyon on Wed July 16 to meet up with the Bikestyle tour folks and other participants. The tour will take us from Lyon to the alpine resort town of Montgenvre in the French Alps, to Valaurie in Provence, to Toulouse and Lourdes in the French Pyrenees, to Paris. We will ride several of the epic Tour de France (TdF) routes, including several of the historic TdF climbs include Alp e d'Huez, Colle del Sestriere (Italy), Colle delle Finestre (Italy), Col d'Izoard, Mount Ventoux, Port de Bales, Hautacam, Col du Tourmalet, and finish on Sun July 27 by riding the streets of Paris (including Champs Elysees) before the TdF finish later in the day. I expect over 400 miles of riding and over 30k ft of climbing. We will see six stages of the TdF, and have reserved seats near the finish-line of the TdF on the Champs Elysees in Paris. Epic!
Our intent is to use this blog to document out trip, post pics, etc. We hope to update it frequently to keep current with events. We'll see how that goes.
Bon Voyage! C'est fantastique!
